Week 23 Review: Five Stars

The coral set from Anthropologie turned out so well! I love this set! Like Love Love! It is not the most practical set, in terms of wearing it under clothes. But, I knew that before I purchased it.

The fabric is just to die for. I love how it looks like satin but it feels like nylon. The bra fits like a glove and is incredibly attractive on. It is comfortable all day long regardless of what I’m doing.

The panties are the sort of bloomer style which is harder to wear under tight jeans or a dress that shows your panty line. But, they are incredibly comfortable. I was a little nervous about the way the elastic would feel, but it turned out to be just fine.

I have loved the two sets by Eloise from Anthropologie. I absolutely recommend this brand if you are looking for something vintage feeling with a tone of comfort.

Review Week 22: Five Stars

Week 22 was the polka dot online purchase from GILT. I’ve purchased many lovely things from GILT before, from every day jewelry to my bridesmaid dresses (VERA WANG BABY! $150!).

I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve purchased from GILT, although I don’t by just a tone of stuff from them (they are a little bit more expensive than some other daily sale sites.). This set is just perfect! There is literally nothing to complain about. Everything fits just like it was made for me.

But, the best part is how thick the straps are on the bra. These slightly thicker straps make it so much more comfortable than the average bra. I spoke to some of my larger chested friends, and they said that they would really appreciate larger straps on more bras. Especially on bras that come in larger sizes. Support Ladies!

The fabric of both is a super soft blend. I just can’t emphasize enough how comfortable this set is!

If you are interested in this set, Anthropologie is carrying a similar one (same brand, same material, different cut). If you own or purchase this one, please let me know how you liked it.

Week 23: Coral Satin from Anthropologie

I’m getting back in the swing of things, folks! After a very long day at work I wondered into my happy place. That’s right, Anthropologie. Don’t you love the disheveled faux vintage displays, the rustic unfinished decor, not to mention the inventory. Oh, it is such good therapy. While almost everything in the store is out of my price range, the lingerie is really quite affordable.

I’ve been obsessed with oranges, corals, tangerines, and reds this year (which is really not typically like me). So, when I saw this beautiful vintage inspired set, and in CORAL, how could I resist?

What I Got:

This clouded morning set is by Eloise, and the whole thing is very vintage inspired and seems to be made for comfort. Both the bra and the panties are made from 90% Nylon and 10% Spandex. The fabric gives off a sort of sheen that gives it a sort of satin look. On the tag of both the bra and panties it says ‘Keep Away From Fire’. I don’t know what this means. But, I find it entertaining.

The bra is called the clouded morning bra a corset style bustier with six eyelet hooks rather typical two or three. There is a lot of lace detail around the cups and around the band. The back portion of the straps is olive green. Which I find really fun! The bra can be machine washed but line dried. I paid $28.00 for it.

The panties are a sort of vintage style brief with a lot of gathering around the legs. There is more lace detail around the top of the panties. I love these panties. They were only $12.00!

Overall I think this set will be very good! I look forward to wearing it!

Review Week 17: Four Stars

Week 17 was my sort of come to Jesus week, where I was really trying to rally and get myself back into this project. Well, it worked. This is one of my favorite sets. Anthropologie is absolutely one of my favorite places to be at any given time. While, I can’t afford anything there I really do just love to be surrounded by all of the beautiful and inspiring things in life. And, this set makes me feel that way too.

The set is totally comfortable for all day wear. Well, that is if your day doesn’t involve any sweating. I work in a very hot busy restaurant (Ugh, she’s talking about waitressing again, geez when will this girl stop complaining about her job) and the little non slip bands across the front and bottom don’t feel good when your sweating. But, when I’m not working they feel just great.

I do think that this set may not work for everyone. There is no way to adjust the width (like with most bras). So, if you’re not exactly that size you’re kinda screwed. But, all in all I love it, and have worn it more often in the last few weeks than any of my others.

By the way, GAP is having a huge sale today on Bras! I’m going. I don’t care what you think of me.

Happy Friday!

Week 17: A Rainy Afternoon in Anthropologie

Work, work, work, work, work. That’s all I seem to do lately. I’m actually a week behind on this project (did anyone know?). I haven’t really felt like I’ve had much direction with this project lately. I would really love any advice or ideas anyone can give me.

I noticed the last time I was in Express that they started to carry lingerie. That was my original idea. Fail. All they really had were bandeau and sort of sports bras. That’s all just fine. But, not exactly what I’m looking for.

I didn’t have just tons of time, so I wondered over to Anthropologie (so delightful, you really must go in and check out all of their new spring stuff). After nearly thirty minutes of perusing around all the beautiful things I can’t afford I came across the PERFECT set for this week.

This set is very vercital and wearable, while still being very romantic and sexy. I’m really excited about this one.

What I got:

Aren't the ruffles cute!

The bra is a front clasping bustier. The clasps are little eyelet clasps. On the entire bra is beautiful french script that sort of fades in and out. The back of the bra is totally sheer, and the straps are completely convertible. I think this will be perfect under summer dresses and nude enough to be worn everyday. The bra is made of 88% Nylon and 12% Spandex. It is handwash only and should be dried flat. I paid the full price for it at only $34.00.

The panties are a standard brief with the script on the front and totally sheer sides and back. The back also has some gathering similar to the set I purchased for Week 5 from Top Shop. The Nylon Spandex blend is the same as the bra. The panties are also to be handwashed only and dried flat. I paid $18.00 for the panties.

I love this style of bra because it totally stays in place. It is like the child of the standard bra and corset. This is definitely not a bad deal for a set that I think I’ll be able to wear pretty regularly and from Anthropologie.

Week 12 Review: Five Stars

Happy Friday friends! For Week 12 I purchased a beautiful blue half cup bra and bloomer set from Anthropologie. Yes, it was one of the more expensive sets I’ve purchased, but I think it was worth every dime!

A: It is beautiful, and totally sexy in a vintage way.

B: The bra fits perfectly, it is not a push up but I do also really love the half cup fit.

C: The bloomers are more comfortable than I imagined, I thought it was going to be this silly thing, and I’d feel practically naked. I also wondered if I could wear tights over them with out showing panty lines. But, honestly I think I could probably easily wear them under thicker jeans (jeans that weren’t super low rise any way).

I highly recommend a set like this, I was not at all disappointed.

Week 12: Vintage Bloomers From Anthropologie

So, I love Anthropologie. End of Story. I love Anthropologie. I’ve been looking into buying a set from there for almost the entire duration of this project. The main problem I’ve had is that the things I want are always more expensive than I want to pay. But, today I decided that maybe it was worth it.

Anthropologie is so beautifully designed. If I had a closet the size of two apartments I’d want it to look just like Anthropologie. Or rather, If I were single and had tones of money and tones of beautiful clothes I’d want to live in an apartment decorated just like Anthropologie. Maybe, I just wan to live in Anthropologie.

Alas, I cannot afford pretty much anything in there (*sigh*).

A few weeks ago I posted a lingerie shopping inspirational photo of a vintage set. Since then I’ve really been looking for the perfect vintage-esk set. Today I decided to get this beautiful blue, lace and silk set. It has these lovely little purple details. The only problem is that I’m not sure the panties will be very wearable with my everyday outfits (aka jeans and t-shirts). But, it is such a pretty set, and would be perfect under a a dress or skirt.

What I got:

The whole set is the Godetia by the Anthropologie brand SAM by Samantha Chang. It is a half cup bra with sky blue lace with lavender details. The lace portion is 85% Nylon and 15% Spandex, and the fabric portion is 93% Polyester and 7% Spandex. It is machine washable and dryer safe (amazing!).  I paid $44 for it, which is more than I prefer to spend, but it is so beautiful!

The panties are by the same brand and are more like bloomers than the traditional bikini briefs. They are very vintagey! I love them! The are made up of the same blend of materials. They were $24, again more than I like to spend, but they are so silky!

We’ll see how this set goes, I’m not sure about how the panties are going to work in the everyday, but I’m excited to try it out. I’m really excited about this set, maybe too excited. I might get heartbroken. I’m nervous.
