Week 21 Review: Two Stars

Well, Target has proved to be a constant disappointment (I’m so sorry Target, darling, but I just must tell the truth. I still love almost everything else about you, it’s just your lingerie department is so not worth the trip.). Week 21 was sort of an impulse buy anyway.

First let me just say that the panties are perfect. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them. The problem lies in the bra.

The soft cups are not a big problem, though a little more structure is my personal preference. The material is soft and feels more expensive than it was. The real problem is the band. It has no elasticity. For a person who has to you know; work, cook, play and I don’t know… breath, the inflexibility is sort of inconvenient. In fact, it’s downright painful.

Anyway, I didn’t pay very much for it. The panties are quite comfortable on top of it. So, not quite a complete loss.

Week 20 Review: Five Stars

Week 20 was the set from Aerie, the super push-up set. I have worn it once with the extra lifts and I did feel sort of awkward toward myself. I am smaller chested and generally really comfortable with that fact. I’m generally like the way I look with my smaller bust. So, having he extra cup size made me feel exposed and unnatural. Perhaps if I were wearing a dress that was just a little bit too large in the bust I would add the extra lift again, but for everyday wear I found it to be totally unnecessary and a little bit silly.

But, as far as the logistics are concerned the whole set is exceptionally comfortable and really quite sexy. The only problem with the bra is the same problem I’ve found with the other strapless bras, the sort of rubber strip gets uncomfortable after a long hot day. But, it is necessary for the bra, when being worn strapless, to not slide.

The panties are totally perfect and comfortable. I can’t complain about them at all!

Week 23: Coral Satin from Anthropologie

I’m getting back in the swing of things, folks! After a very long day at work I wondered into my happy place. That’s right, Anthropologie. Don’t you love the disheveled faux vintage displays, the rustic unfinished decor, not to mention the inventory. Oh, it is such good therapy. While almost everything in the store is out of my price range, the lingerie is really quite affordable.

I’ve been obsessed with oranges, corals, tangerines, and reds this year (which is really not typically like me). So, when I saw this beautiful vintage inspired set, and in CORAL, how could I resist?

What I Got:

This clouded morning set is by Eloise, and the whole thing is very vintage inspired and seems to be made for comfort. Both the bra and the panties are made from 90% Nylon and 10% Spandex. The fabric gives off a sort of sheen that gives it a sort of satin look. On the tag of both the bra and panties it says ‘Keep Away From Fire’. I don’t know what this means. But, I find it entertaining.

The bra is called the clouded morning bra a corset style bustier with six eyelet hooks rather typical two or three. There is a lot of lace detail around the cups and around the band. The back portion of the straps is olive green. Which I find really fun! The bra can be machine washed but line dried. I paid $28.00 for it.

The panties are a sort of vintage style brief with a lot of gathering around the legs. There is more lace detail around the top of the panties. I love these panties. They were only $12.00!

Overall I think this set will be very good! I look forward to wearing it!

Week 19: Yes, the GAP, again.

Don’t judge me. I can’t help it. I love the GAP! The Uplifting Bra Sale Event ends on Wednesday May 9th, so you have time to get there. Trust me it is a great deal. All of the bras were $25 and most of them normally priced over $40.

Just a few days ago I walked into the GAP to look for jeans and I saw this new set that I thought I just had to have, but it was too expensive, so I thought I’d just wait until it went on sale. Sure enough there it was pretty and pink and sort of vintage. LOVE!

What I Got:

The bra is the Point d’esprit longline plunge demi bra, which is a part of their ‘Favorite Plunge’ collection. It is very pale pink (so I think I’ll be able to wear it under white) with little bitty polka dots in the lace. The band is a little bit thicker with some lace coming down below. It is sort of a french style and super feminine!

The bra is made of 92% Nylon and 8% Spandex. It should be handwashed in cold. It was originally priced at $44.50, and it’s advertised online as $35. But, I got it for $25! What a steal!

The panties are the Point d’esprit girl shorts (I’ve recently come to appreciate the boyshort style a lot more. It really did used to be my least favorite style of pantie). They are made of the same nylon spandex blend as the bra, but they can be machine washed. They were not on sale, but were not badly priced at $14.50.

I think this set is so very very pretty! Please go to the GAP and find your new favorite set. I promise you wont be disappointed.

Review Week 16: Five Stars

Since, Week 15 was such a bust I’m thrilled to report that Week 16 was a total success! This set has one of the most comfortable sets of underwear in the whole lot! The bra is really attractive on top of it!

This is one of the sets that I spent a little bit more money on. I normally like to stay around $30 for the whole thing, but here I ended up spending about $55. But, this just goes to show you that you get what you pay for! I love this set, and I feel like I look good in it!

This is the second set I’ve purchased from Calvin Klein, and man they do not disappoint. I think I’m slowly learning that while I love the way lace and mesh looks, but the smooth Nylon Spandex blend is much more comfortable, and I think holds up better. Anyway, I feel like I hit the jack pot on this one!

Week 14 Review: Four Stars

Well, it turns out that the GAP is still not disappointing. Week 14 was the wireless blue printed set. It is probably the most comfortable bra so far in this project. I plan on buying another one! The bra gives the same amount of lift as a bra with an underwire, just without the padding. The only complaint I have is that the straps, which are convertible to be a racer-back, have come undone. This only happened once, and maybe it was a user error.

The panties are really comfortable too! They do sort of ride up more than I’d like them to, and they are a little bit smaller than GAP’s average small. But, they are better than other pairs I’ve found so far.

Overall, I totally recommend a wireless bra! Comfort City!

Week 13: Sporty and Navy from Nordstrom

Laziness. That is the only word to describe my attitude toward my whole life this week. Laziness. I couldn’t get myself to really even think about where to shop this week. The better solution is to come up with a real plan, a list of all the places I need to shop. I’ll work on it this week.

So, I didn’t even attempt to shop until yesterday, and I went to the closest possible place to where I work: Nordstrom Rack. I love it there, as we already know. Everything is very nicely organized. I was originally very interested in another Calvin Klein set with black details, but I thought that I should probably try a different brand, since I’m being entirely too lazy to try a different store.

See, how pretty! Someone please go buy this.

So, I settled on a set by the brand Josie. It is a standard push-up and a brief with a sheer back. The material seems like more of a sportswear material, and I think it will be pretty comfortable.

All of their sets are organized with the bras in front of the panties. This makes it so easy to find what you're looking for.

What I Got:

The bra is made of 84% polyester and 16% spandex. It is hand wash only, line dry. It was originally $40, but I got it for $15.97. I love how all oft the metal pieces are red. That makes it so fun! The print is sort of a tie dye pattern.

The pantie are a standard brief, with a sheer navy back and little red bows on the sides. They seem really comfortable. They are made of 91% nylon and 9% spandex. They are machine washable, but should be line dried only. They were originally $12 but I got them for $4.97.

Yes, this is one of the absolute cheapest sets I’ve purchased! Just over $20 for the whole thing! I do love a good deal.

Week 10 Review: Five Stars

Week 10 was the convertible nude set from Aerie (aka American Eagle). I have purchased a similar bra before and loved it. Well, I’ve not been at all disappointed. I love it actually, and I was surprised by how much lift it gives. When I wear this strapless, I think it will be the ideal strapless bra.

I feel like I almost can’t put this bra in the same category as all of my other bras because it is not traditionally comfortable. It holds you in and doesn’t move at all. I think that possibly some people might find it restricting, but in this type of bra, you need that kind of stability. When worn in the strapless fashion, you need it to not move at all, other wise you might end up with your bra at your waste (not that this has ever happened to me, haha).

The panties are very comfortable. Not really a lot to say about them. In comparison to the very similar pair I purchased from GAP, they are not quite as comfortable but the color is closer to my skin tone (I’m exceptionally pale). It is not that they aren’t comfortable, it’s just that I prefer the GAP pair. I can’t exactly articulate why.

But, at the end of the day, I love this set! I can’t wait till I have a reason to wear the bra strapless (hint*husband*hint).

I’m going out today to search for Week 12. I’m having a hard time coming up with a good place to shop for it. I need to explore the sale racks at small privately owned stores. Please, if you have any ideas of where I should shop this week, I need help!
